OUR TEAM

James Ghormley

Managing Director

James’ first introduction to China was moving into a Dongguan medical manufacturing facility where he lived in the on-site dormitories for his first year, becoming thoroughly acquainted with the culture and workings of Chinese factories. While working as a manufacturing engineer, James optimized production and business processes for companies such as GE, FitBit, and Covidien Medical eventually qualifying him for his Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt certification from Purdue University. He then completed his Masters in product design from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Asia’s leading design program. James’ passion lies in the creation and execution of meaningful products that provide lasting value to their end users.

John

Manufacturing General Manager

John has led an illustrious career at nearby Foxconn for 16 years before working with Acrivia. While at Foxconn he managed such high-profile projects as Microsoft Xbox, various Hewlett Packard printers, Sony VAIO notebook, Sony PlayStation, and other notable products that represented massive volumes and robust designs. John's extensive network in Shenzhen from these projects has laid the foundation for much of Acrivia's supplier partnerships and continues to be a source of value when we require specific specialists on our projects. His background in manufacturing centers on plastics and metal manufacturing processes especially as it relates to injection molding and tool-fabrication.

Samuel Lee

Design Manager

Samuel was raised in Northwest Africa speaking French until moving to his native Canada to attend the prestigious Emily Carr University of Art and Design where he was the IDSA 2012 senior student merit award winner. While working at Powertech (department for electric vehicles at BC Hydro), he collaborated on projects between universities and rehabilitation centers both in Hong Kong and Vancouver. He later moved to Hong Kong and obtained his Masters in Design Practice with Honors at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Since graduation, Samuel has worked as an industrial designer and co-creative director at Acrivia Innovations where he is the backbone of its creative endeavors.

Ben Moore

Managing Director

Ben has lived full time in China since 2009. Before moving to China, Ben spent two years in Taiwan gaining fluency in Mandarin Chinese after which he then finished his studies at Brigham Young University, completing a BA in International Business. He later moved with his wife to Jinhua, China, where he spent a year working as a product manager for Rüesch Motor Company. Shortly after, he started work on a new manufacturing firm and, in 2011, moved to Guangdong where he currently resides. Ben maintains Acrivia's operations and often finds himself on the road traveling around to suppliers. His background in international manufacturing and supply chain management has proven to be one of Acrivia's great advantages.

Ricky Shen

R & D Manager

Ricky brings a great deal of engineering experience to Acrivia. He graduated from China’s oldest university, Hunan University (founded in 976 AD), in 1993 with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He then worked in the automotive and electronic industries until 2005 when he was hired by Silicone Valley’s famed Acorn PD. Ricky worked as the senior product manager for high-profile projects such as the Keurig coffee maker, Amazon Kindle, and Cisco Nexus series. With over 25 years of product development experience for some of the world’s largest brands, Ricky manages Acrivia’s engineering team with the same rigor that created the innovative break-throughs of his previous projects.
